Rum Tasting – on the River!

Here at The Little Gin & Rum Company we’re always thinking of new and innovative ways to drink gin and rum. Whilst we believe that drinking rum in your pants in your garden is fun, we reckon drinking it on a boat is funner. That’s why we teamed up with the lovely folks at Leam Boat Centre in (you guessed it) Leamington Spa, for an evening of rum tastingon the river!

If you’re looking for an evening of pure joy, some delicious food with a boatload of rum thrown in, you’ve come to the right place. Join us for a night of messing about on the river – the perfect experience for an unusual date (especially if she has a thing for Captain Jack Sparrow) or a silly night out with friends, families or teammates.

Where there is rum, there is fun.

You’ll start your evening off by meeting the Leam Boat Crew and Little Gin & Rum Co on dry land at 18:30. Come hungry, thirsty and with a will to stay afloat.

Once we’ve gone over some housekeeping items, we’ll roll out a welcome cocktail and a blow-out bite to eat! This’ll be served on land, so if you are on that date with the pirate-lover you don’t need to worry about trying to keep your balance (and cool) whilst ramming a sauce filled snack in your face.

It’s here that you’ll get a chance to chat to the crew and your other shipmates before you embark aboard your vessel.

Drink up me hearties!

This is where things get wavy. After you’ve lined your stomachs with our sumptuous spread you’ll head on down the jetty to jump (or wobble, like us…) into your rowing boats. Well, we say boats, but it might also be a pedalo! Both the boats and pedalos are able to hold groups of two, three or four. If your rum-swigging crew are any larger, just give us a shout and we’ll see what we can do to get you involved.

Once onboard your vessel we’ll roll out the rum and start singing the sea shantys… okay, maybe not the sea shantys but we’ll deffo get you in the mood for singing. Whilst moored at the jetty, the Little Gin & Rum Co team will take you through a delicious tasting sequence of 4 artisan rums. We’ll first sample each neat, and with paired mixers. The rum tasting takes an hour.

Avast Ye!

After you’ve supped up the last of your grog, it’s time to hit the waves. And by waves, we mean the river (which isn’t very wavy at all actually, although it may feel it after a few rums!)

From 8pm until 9pm you and your shipmates will be let loose on the river to enjoy boating. Leam Boat Centre is based just across the water from Jephson Gardens, and your rowing boat or pedalo can head to just over a mile from the centre. During this time, you’re able to purchase rum cocktails from the jetty to take on board with you should you and your crew wish.

Walk the Plank

After your hour on the river finding your sea legs, it’s time to head back to dry land, find your actual legs and head home!

If you’re looking for a date with a difference, organising the team social, or simply catching up with friends or family, why not book a boat? Book online now, boats are limited – so book early to avoid disappointment.

HERE’S OUR STORY

After 4 years of being together we never thought that we would one day be in business together. Who knew where a simple text message could lead….

It all started with a conversation with Nicola at one of The Little Gin and Rum Company’s events in Leeds. Amy sent a message to Ian saying “Do you fancy buying a gin and rum company?” and the wheels were set in motion.

OUR BACKGROUND

IAN:

“As a sales professional travelling the UK and the world, I have made travelling and alcohol my thing.  With over 20 years experience supplying the hospitality industry with software and e-learning, I can’t wait to start sharing Queen Cleo Spirits with the industry I love.  You’ll usually find me with my favourite Queen Cleo Rum with ginger ale.”

AMY:

“Where Ian loves sales, I love marketing and as a digital marketing trainer and professional public speaker, I always have a lot to say.  When Nicola and Emma started virtual events in lockdown, I jumped at the opportunity to talk about gin and rum and nearly 200 events later, I still love it.  Old Tom is my favourite tipple and I’ll even drink it neat with just a cube of ice and a squeeze of lime.”

THE FUTURE

Nicola and Emma have created a gin and rum legacy and we are honoured to take it into the future.

We can’t wait to share our plans with you and we promise to make Queen Cleo proud.

You know our favourite Queen Cleo drinks and we’d love to know yours.  Share them with us on Instagram #littleginandrumco.
