Cranberry and Tonic Ice Cubes

CRANBERRY AND TONIC ICE

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without the good old fashioned cranberry and these little beauties add a splash of colour to your ice and drinks.  When choosing the cranberries to use make sure that they are firm, plump and have a smooth skin.

STEPS

  1. Wash the cranberries before using them.
  2. Place your cranberries into the ice cube tray. We used a tray that had a shaped top to add a bit more style and added 2/3 cranberries per ice cube depending on the size of the cranberries.
  3. Pour tonic into the ice cubes. We used our favourite, Folkingtons Indian Tonic.
  4. Carefully place the ice cube tray into the freezer.
  5. When frozen, add to your favourite Queen Cleo gin and tonic and enjoy!

    Orange and cinnamon ice

    ORANGE AND CINNAMON ICE

Orange and cinnamon is one of our favourite combinations and it’s perfect to add some festive cheer to your drinks.  We made our ice cubes with prosecco to add a little extra fizz and the cubes work perfectly with our Spice 75 cocktail made using our Queen Cleo Spiced Rum.  You can make them with water or tonic if you prefer.   With larger oranges, you will need an ice tray with large squares.

    STEPS

    1. Slice an orange into thin slices
    2. Arrange 3 slices into each of the ice cube squares. Curve the first one around the edge, then place the second and third slices so that they overlap and make a rose like shape
    3. Add a cranberry stick to the centre (and a cranberry if you want some extra colour)
    4. Fill the squares with Prosecco. Pour it slowly and allow the fizz to settle before topping up.
    5. Carefully place the ice cube tray into the freezer.
    6. Once frozen, add a cube to your favourite drink or cocktail!

    Candy Cane Coloured Ice

    CANDY CANE FESTIVE COLOURED ICE

This is a simple way to add a little bit of pizazz (and colour) to your drinks.  You can do different colours using edible food dye or even add some glitter (the edible kind obviously).  We used a shaped ice tray with a festive message and you can get as creative as you like with different colours.

    STEPS

    1. Crush candy canes into small places.
    2. Place the crushed candy cane into the bottom of each ice shape.
    3. Mix cold water with your colour and/or glitter.
    4. Pour the coloured or shimmery water into the ice cube tray.
    5. Carefully place the ice cube tray into the freezer.
    6. Once frozen, add it to your favourite Queen Cleo gin and tonic

      HERE’S OUR STORY

After 6 years of being together we never thought that we would one day be in business together. Who knew where a simple text message could lead….

It all started with a conversation with Nicola at one of The Little Gin and Rum Company’s events in Leeds. Amy sent a message to Ian saying “Do you fancy buying a gin and rum company?” and the wheels were set in motion.

      OUR BACKGROUND

      IAN:

“As a sales professional travelling the UK and the world, I have made travelling and alcohol my thing.  With over 20 years experience supplying the hospitality industry with software and e-learning, I can’t wait to start sharing Queen Cleo Spirits with the industry I love.  You’ll usually find me with my favourite Queen Cleo Rum with ginger ale.”

      AMY:

“Where Ian loves sales, I love marketing and as a digital marketing trainer and professional public speaker, I always have a lot to say.  When Nicola and Emma started virtual events in lockdown, I jumped at the opportunity to talk about gin and rum and nearly 200 events later, I still love it.  Old Tom is my favourite tipple and I’ll even drink it neat with just a cube of ice and a squeeze of lime.”

      THE FUTURE

Nicola and Emma have created a gin and rum legacy and we are honoured to take it into the future.

We can’t wait to share our plans with you and we promise to make Queen Cleo proud.

You know our favourite Queen Cleo drinks and we’d love to know yours.  Share them with us on Instagram #littleginandrumco.
